Containers for Spring 2020? Try These 4 Trendy Looks

What new Spring 2020 trends were shown at the Atlanta Gift Market in July? Which of these four popular container styles will sell best in your floral business?

Here are some insider tips about what was showing in the Smithers-Oasis showroom in Atlanta.

If you attended the July show in Atlanta, you may have noticed lots of buyers carrying fingertip bouquets of fresh flowers. No, it wasn’t an adult Prom!

These retailers were excited about Clayrton's pleated sleeves. Visitors to the Smithers-Oasis showroom had the opportunity to receive a small nosegay of fresh flowers. They loved the look!

Clayrton's are just one of many new product lines customers discovered in the 18th floor showroom. Here’s the countdown -

  1. Pleated Sleeves

Why are Claytons pleated sleeves such an instant hit? You can upgrade an arrangement with this sassy look in just seconds, for less than 50 cents!

What can you use these colorful, waterproof wraps for?

  • Bouquet sleeve
  • Potted plant cover
  • Accent cover for cylinder vases

These pretty French wraps are available in two assortments - Ruby or Natural prints. The ‘grab & go’ impulse items come in compact display boxes that hold 120 sleeves. Keep it on the sales counter so customers can select the pattern they want.

Think dance recitals, homecoming dance, DIY bouquet classes, hostess gifts, holiday impulse buys, prom purchases, the possibilities are endless.

The easy-on sleeves are available in 4 convenient heights for bouquets of varied sizes:

  • 5”
  • 5-3/4”
  • 6-1/2”
  • 7-1/4”

Along with this line there’s also Simply Boxes.

  • Waterproof
  • Eco-friendly: paper and biodegradable cornstarch liner
  • Folds flat for easy storage and display
  • Bright colors

They’re available to ship now from your local wholesaler or oasisfloralproducts.com.

If buying from the website, look under Products, New Floral Products, to discover ready-to-ship Clayrton’s Sleeves and Pot Covers.

Kraft paper style in three sizes: petite, regular and full brick, available in January.

2. ECOssentials

You may remember ECOssentials line from a few years back. It was one of my personal favorites. I was so disappointed when they went out of the Oasis container line. Little did I know they would return as an even better product!

These eco-chic containers have the weight and durability you’d get from plastic while looking like ceramic. I love the natural look and feel of them.

Made from plant fibers, these natural containers are 100% Biodegradable and compostable!

They will biodegrade in a US landfill, soil, or compost pile once they interact with bacteria.

When you use OASIS® Floral Foam Maxlife in these containers, your design is now totally sustainable – it all biodegrades in a landfill.

No worries though, the containers will hold up perfectly while you are using them for flowers in wet foam.

What’s so great about this refreshing new look?

This season consumers are super-focused on using products of natural elements. Made of a varied mix of bamboo, coffee, corn husk or wheat husk materials these products have a great textural feel. Some smooth, others rough textured.

These back-to-basics containers in earthy colors are the perfect complement to fresh flowers and plants.

  • On-trend shapes and sizes specially designed for plants and flowers
  • Colors and textures found in nature

The organic form of these containers makes them so easy to design in. I love the rough-grained feel of the vases and birdhouses in the above photo.

3. Trendy Iron

Whether you’re designing for a garden party, shower, wedding or planning a Christmas gathering - this year’s look is trendier in tin.

Elevated options and Interesting shapes make these containers fun to design in.

Iron bowls on a stand. Hanging metals. Hinged-dome birdcages. Roses, carnations, thistle and berries. The juxtaposition of hand-forged finishes against a textural mix of flowers creates an unexpected look that intrigues customers.

When it comes to simplistic designs, make mine metal. I love at the time-worn look of this rust bowl and it reminds me of gold-mining in Alaska (as a tourist, of course!)

This collection is a good mix of products for everyday design, the bread and butter of most floral businesses. Tin, wood, ceramic; all the workhorses of affordable design.

Shipping in September, this diverse line of products that would be great for any indoor or outdoor event.

4. Animals

This line of products is just for fun; adding a little humor to daily designs. Try these cute guys when a small, cheerful design is needed.
